Riverfront Mile Expands Festival of Miles Offerings to Downtown St. Louis

April 20, 2016

Friday evening, June 3 event features Strange Donuts Mile on “National Donut Day”

From The Festival of Miles Foundation

The Festival of Miles Foundation in conjunction with Big River Running brings a new event, The Riverfront Mile, to downtown St. Louis Friday, June 3, 2016.

The Riverfront Mile will have four one-Mile races for runners and walkers of all abilities, including the Strange Donuts Mile, which challenges its participants to eat four donuts during the course of the race.

For the last eight years, the Festival of Miles Foundation has put on a first-class charity track meet that features races for kids, the best high school runners in the country and Olympic level professional athletes. The Foundation’s mission centers around fostering a love for the sport of track and field, but also supporting an athlete in need. Since 2008, the Foundation has raised more than $50,000 for athletes in need.

“We work extremely hard to put on an unforgettable event for sports fans. Every year we try to outdo ourselves to make the event bigger and better than ever,” said Ben Rosario, Festival of Miles Foundation Board Member. “In 2015 we raised a record amount of money for our athlete in need, and 2000 plus fans experienced history as Grant Fisher became only the 7th U.S. high schooler to break 4 Miles in the Mile. It was so hard to top that we had to add another day to the festivities for 2016!”

This year, the addition of the Riverfront Mile gives more people the chance to participate in a mile race. The new event celebrates the grand re-opening of the Gateway Arch Grounds with running, donuts, beer and a post-race party on historic Laclede’s Landing.
